Missionary Prayer of St Teresa of Avila (18th Oct 2015)

Christ has no body now on earth but yours,

no hands but yours, no feet but yours.

Yours are the eyes through which Christ’s compassion

is to look out to the world.

Yours are the feet by which he is to go about doing good.  And yours are the hands by which he is to bless us now.

Prayer for Life  (4th October 2015)

O God, our Creator, all life is in your hands from conception until death. Help us to cherish our children and to reverence the awesome privilege of our share in creation. May all people live and die in dignity and love. Bless all those who defend the rights of the unborn, the handicapped and the aged. Enlighten and be merciful toward those who fail to love, and give them peace. Let freedom be tempered by responsibility, integrity and morality.

Every day I need You, Lord   (6th September 2015)

Every day I need You, Lord, but this day especially,

I need some extra strength to face whatever is to be.

This day more than any day I need to feel You near,

to fortify my courage and to overcome my fear.

By myself I cannot meet the challenge of the hour.

There are times when humans help, but we need a higher power

to assist us bear what must be borne.

And so, dear Lord I pray hold onto my trembling hand and be near me today.

Pope Benedict’s Prayer for Grandparents (26th July 2015)

Lord Jesus, you were born of the Virgin Mary, the daughter of Saints Joachim and Anne. Look with love on grandparents the world over. Protect them! They are a source of enrichment for families, for the Church and for all of society.  Support them! As they grow older, may they continue to be for their families strong pillars of Gospel faith, guardian of noble domestic ideals, living treasuries of sound religious traditions.

  Make them teachers of wisdom and courage, that they may pass on to future generations the fruits of their mature human and spiritual experience.

  Lord Jesus, help families and society to value the presence and roles of grandparents. May they never be ignored or excluded, but always encounter respect and love. Help them to live serenely and to feel welcomed in all the years of life which you give them. Mary, Mother of all the living, keep grandparents constantly in your care, accompany them on their earthly pilgrimage, and by your prayers, grant that all families may one day be reunited in our heavenly homeland, where you await all humanity for the great embrace of life without end. Amen.

Prayer of St Faustina for Mercy Sunday (12th April 2015)

Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion inexhaustible,

Look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us,

That in difficult moments we might not despair nor become despondent,

But with great confidence submit ourselves to Your holy will, which is Love and Mercy itself.

Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

Come Holy Spirit  (1st March 2015)

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love.

Send forth your spirit and they shall be created,

and you shall renew the face of the earth.

O God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit

did instruct the hearts of the faithful,

grant that by the same Holy Spirit,

we may be truly wise and ever enjoy

his consolations, through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Reflection - Post Communion   (25th January 2015)

To be lost is a frightening experience, like a child losing a parent in a big shop.

Maybe losing direction in marriage or a job, losing health, good looks, life itself.

When we’re lost we need a signpost, or some way of finding direction.

Jesus is our way, our direction, our signpost through life to God.

He is lifted up so that in every dangerous experience of life,

we can see him, our risen Lord on Calvary.

In illness or depression we know his presence, in poverty and injustice we know his care,

In mourning and loss we know his compassion, in our efforts to know the pain of others,

We know he is with us, we are his hand, his heart, his love today.

Baptism Prayer    (11th January 2015)
Heavenly Father, In your love you have called us to know you, led us to trust you, and bound our life with yours.
Surround all candidates for Baptism with your love, protect them from evil.
Fill them with the Holy Spirit and receive them into the family of your church; that they may walk with us in the way of Christ, and grow in the knowledge of your love. Amen.

Prayer       (21st December 2014)

The secret of Christmas is not just that God gives us his Son …… it’s that God trusts us to take care of Him. God trusts us, you and I. Isn’t that amazing. After all that has happened, all that has been done, we are trustworthy. When we live up to the trust God has placed in us, we live incarnation. The secret of Christmas is that we can be trusted with a child’s heart.  Lets live up to that trust. Now and forever. Amen.

Come Holy Spirit       (30th November 2014)
Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love.
Send forth your spirit and they shall be created, and you shall renew the face of the earth.
O God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit, we may be truly wise and ever enjoy His consolations, through Christ our Lord, Amen.

Lord, Let Nothing Disturb me....  (28th September 2014)
Lord, let nothing disturb me.
Let nothing frighten me.
All things are passing, God never changes.
Patience obtains all things.
Whoever has God lacks nothing:
God alone suffices.
     – Adapted from St Teresa of Avila

With Your Help Lord... (31st August 2014)
Lord, let me be a little kinder, let me be a little blinder to the faults of those about me;
let me praise a little more,
let me be when I am weary just a little bit more cheery.
Let me strive a little harder to be all that I should be.
Let me be a little meeker with the one who is weaker.
Lord, help me think a little more of others and a little less of me.

Post Communion Prayer (17th August 2014)
God has created me to do Him some definite service. He has committed some work to me which He has not committed to another. I have my mission.
   I am a link in a chain, a bond of connection between persons. He has not created me for nothing; I shall be an angel of peace.
Whatever, wherever I am, I can never be thrown away. If I am in sickness, my sorrow may serve Him. He does nothing in vain. He knows what He is about. Therefore I will trust Him.

A Prayer for Peace (27th July 2014)
Lord, make my an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console, to be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive, it is in pardoning that we are pardoned and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

A Prayer for Pope Francis  (29th June 2014)
Almighty God, we pray for our Holy Father, Pope Francis. He is your chosen shepherd. Make him blessed upon the earth. Guide him by your Spirit and give him grace and wisdom to lead your people in faith. Grant this through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

Eucharistic Prayer of Thanks   (22nd June 2014)
Lord Jesus Christ, you gave us the Eucharist as the memorial of your suffering and death, may our worship of this Sacrament of your body and Blood help us to experience the Salvation you won for us and the peace of the Kingdom where you live with the Father and the Holy Spirit, world without end. Amen.

Reflection for Pentecost   (8th June 2014)
Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created and you will renew the face of the earth. O God who has taught the hearts of the faithful by the light of the Holy Spirit grant us in the same Spirit to be truly wise, and ever rejoice in His consolation. Through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

Prayer to St John XXIII   (27th April 2014)
St John XXIII, Your simple and meek persona carried the scent of God and the desire of goodness was inflamed in the heart. Pray for us so that we do not limit ourselves to mourn the darkness but rather to enkindle the light, bringing Christ everywhere and always praying to Mary. Amen.

Prayer to St John Paul II   (27th April 2014)
St John Paul, from the window of Heaven grant us your blessing! Bless the Church that you have loved, served and guided, pushing Her with courage towards the paths of the world to bring Christ to all, and all to Christ. From the window of Heaven, where we see you next to Mary, send down upon us all the blessing of God. Amen.

Prayer to be Merciful  (23rd March 2014)

Help me Jesus, that what I ask of You (mercy) I will give to others in word and deed.
Help me, O Lord, that my eyes may be merciful, so that I may never suspect or judge others, but always look for what is beautiful and good in other people.
Help me, that my ears may be merciful, so that I may give heed to others' needs, and not be indifferent to their pain.
Help me, O Lord, that my tongue may be merciful, so that I should never speak wrongly of others, but have a word of comfort and forgiveness for all.
Help me, O Lord, that my hands may be merciful and filled with good deeds.
Help me, O Lord, to forgive and forget.

Lord Jesus Think of Me
(31st March 2014)

Lord Jesus, think on me, and purge away my sins;
From earth-born passions set me free, and make me pure within.

Lord Jesus, think on me, with care and woe oppressed;
Let they loving servant be, and taste thy promised rest.

Lord Jesus, think on me amid the battle's strife;
In all my pain and misery be thou my health and life.

Lord Jesus, think on me, nor let me go astray;
Through darkness and perplexity point thou the heavenly way.

A Prayer with Jesus on the Cross   (13th April 2014)

A Prayer with Jesus on the Cross  (13th April 2014)

Father, let this suffering pass from me; yet not my will be but yours be done. May you be blessed forever. Jesus, Son of God, have mercy on me. With you I am nailed to the Cross. Let my pains be mingled with yours for the saving of the world. Holy Spirit, comforter and consoler, heal what is sick in me, strengthen what is weak, sweeten what is sour and cranky.  Save me from depression and self-pity; renew my courage; bring me to pray with Jesus on the Cross: Father, into your hands I commend my spirit.  Amen.

Easter Blessing    (20th April 2014)

May the Lord bless you this Easter time: Bless you with faith, guard you in doubt;
Bless you with hope, uplift you in despair; Bless you with love, keep you from fear;
Bless you with peace, calm you in trouble; Bless you with mercy, help you forgive;
Bless you with joy, comfort you in sorrow;
So your heart may rejoice in Him who is Risen.  Amen.
